Ongoing Implant Maintenance

We keep caring for your new smile with implant maintenance at your regular visits.

Picture someone in La Crosse or Viroqua who has worn a loose denture for years, or who has been patching failing teeth one at a time and is tired of the cycle. Eating has become a careful negotiation, and smiling in photos feels like something to avoid. For many people across Wisconsin's Coulee Region, full mouth dental implants offer a way to replace an entire arch of teeth with a fixed restoration that stays in place. At Rivertown Dental, we plan, place and restore these implants close to home through our Implant Clinic in our Holmen building.

Full mouth dental implants, also called full arch dental implants, replace all of the teeth in the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. Instead of placing one implant for every missing tooth, a set of implants is placed in the jawbone to support a fixed, implant-supported bridge. That bridge holds a complete arch of teeth. It is not removed at night the way a traditional denture is.

Because we have an on-site dental lab and place and restore implants in-house, much of the process stays under one roof. Our Full Arch Providers, Dr. Joseph Uker, FICD, and Dr. Randall Moseng, MAGD, lead full-arch care. As general dentists who focus on this work, they coordinate the planning, the implant placement and the final teeth with the rest of our team.

This treatment is often considered by people in a range of situations. Full mouth implants may be worth discussing if you:

  • Have lost most or all of your teeth in one or both arches
  • Wear a denture that slips, rubs or makes eating difficult
  • Have many teeth that are failing from decay, gum disease or past dental work
  • Want one coordinated plan rather than repairing teeth one at a time

Every mouth is different, so the only way to know whether full arch implants fit your needs is a consultation and exam. Some patients need extractions, gum disease treatment or other care first, and we provide oral surgery, simple extractions and gum disease treatment in our offices. Some patients turn out to be better suited to a different option, such as individual dental implants, bridges or another approach to tooth replacement. We explain your choices clearly so you can decide with confidence.

Is it okay if it has been a long time since I saw a dentist?

Yes, and you will not be judged here. Many people who explore full mouth implants have avoided the dentist because of cost, fear or past experiences, and we understand that.

Our approach is what we call The Ascent Experience: advanced care, genuine comfort, and a better experience from start to finish. That means plain explanations of what we see and what your options are, along with small comforts like a warm towelette, a blanket, a support pillow, headphones and essential oils. For adults who feel anxious about treatment, we offer IV sedation. We will talk through whether it makes sense for you during planning.

How do I care for full mouth implants afterward?

Full mouth implants need daily cleaning and regular professional visits, much like natural teeth. Even though implants cannot decay, the gums and bone around them still need attention to stay healthy.

At home, we will show you how to clean around and beneath your new teeth. In the office, we provide implant maintenance and periodontal maintenance, and our dental hygienists can help keep the tissue around your implants in good condition. Because our team handles cleanings, exams and implant care, you can return to the same practice for ongoing visits. If you wear down your teeth at night, we may also talk with you about a night mouth guard. Your results depend on your health, your habits and keeping up with this care, and we will be honest with you about what to expect for your situation.

How can I pay for full mouth dental implants?

We will give you a clear estimate for your plan at your consultation, and we offer several ways to manage the cost. We work with many dental insurance plans, so please call the office to confirm how your coverage applies. We also welcome self-pay patients.

For those who would like to spread payments out, we offer third-party financing through Cherry, CareCredit and Proceed Finance. Approval and terms depend on each lender's qualification process. Patients without insurance may also consider our Rivertown Membership Plans, also called the VIP Program. The Classic, Deluxe and Kids plans include cleanings, exams, X-rays and fluoride, plus a discount on treatment. Membership plans cannot be combined with insurance, and our team is happy to help you compare options.

Questions

Full Mouth Dental Implants FAQs

How much do full mouth dental implants cost, and does insurance help?

The cost depends on your mouth and your treatment plan, so we share it after an exam and consultation at our Implant Clinic in Holmen. We work with many dental insurance plans; call our office to confirm what your plan may cover. Third-party financing through Cherry, CareCredit and Proceed Finance is available to patients who qualify, subject to approval.

Is getting full mouth dental implants painful?

We plan every step around your comfort, including IV sedation for adults and nitrous oxide when it fits your care. Through The Ascent Experience you can also expect warm towelettes, blankets, a support pillow, headphones and essential oils. We explain each step clearly so you know what to expect before, during and after treatment.

How long does the full mouth implant process take?

Timelines vary from person to person, and we map yours out during your consultation. Because we place and restore implants in-house with an on-site dental lab, much of your care happens close to home in the Coulee Region. We walk you through each visit so there are no surprises.

Am I a candidate for full mouth dental implants?

The best way to know is an exam with one of our Full Arch Providers, such as Dr. Joseph Uker or Dr. Randall Moseng, at our Holmen Implant Clinic. We look at your teeth, gums and overall oral health and talk through your goals without judgment about how long it has been since your last visit. You do not need a referral to schedule.

How long do full mouth implants last, and what are my alternatives?

How long your implants serve you depends largely on daily home care and regular professional visits, and we provide implant maintenance to help protect your investment. If full mouth implants are not the right fit, we also offer other tooth replacement options such as crowns, bridges and full mouth reconstruction. We will review each option with you so you can choose with confidence.
