Why choose us
Many crowns can be designed and placed in a single visit, so you can skip the temporary and the second trip.
Fillings, crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and root canal therapy are all handled at our Coulee Region offices in La Crosse, Holmen, Arcadia and Viroqua.
Our in-house lab helps us fine-tune the fit and look of your restoration without sending it far away.
However long it has been, we explain what we see and your options in plain language before anything begins.
The Ascent Experience brings warm towelettes, blankets, headphones and essential oils, with nitrous oxide and IV sedation available for adults.
A cracked molar, a filling that keeps catching your floss, or a gap left by a tooth you lost years ago can change how you chew, speak, and smile. At Rivertown Dental, our team in La Crosse and across the Coulee Region repairs and replaces damaged or missing teeth so they work and feel like your own again. We see adults and families at our La Crosse, Holmen, Arcadia and Viroqua offices, and we keep advanced restorative care close to home rather than sending you out of the area.
Restorative dentistry covers any treatment that repairs a damaged tooth or replaces a missing one. That ranges from a small filling on a single cavity to a full mouth reconstruction that rebuilds an entire smile. The goal is to bring back healthy function first, with natural appearance close behind.
Our restorative services include:
Because our general dentists handle everything from cleanings to implants, the same team that knows your history plans your restoration. That continuity matters when one tooth's treatment affects the teeth around it.
Your first visit starts with a conversation and a thorough exam. We use digital X-rays to see decay, cracks, and bone levels that are not visible on the surface, then explain what we found in plain language. There is no judgment about how long it has been since your last visit. We simply start where you are.
From there we lay out your options. A tooth with moderate decay might be a candidate for an onlay instead of a crown, which preserves more natural structure. A missing tooth might be replaced with a bridge or an implant, depending on the health of the neighboring teeth and the bone underneath. If gum disease is present, we often treat that first with scaling and root planing, since healthy gums give any restoration a better foundation.
Yes, comfort is built into every appointment. We call our approach The Ascent Experience: advanced care, genuine comfort, and a better experience from start to finish. That includes warm towelettes, blankets, support pillows, headphones, and essential oils, along with clear explanations at each step so nothing catches you off guard.
For patients who feel anxious or who need longer procedures, we offer nitrous oxide sedation and IV sedation for adults. Our on-site dental lab and same-day CEREC technology also mean many crowns are completed in a single visit, so you spend less time in the chair overall. When implants or more involved tooth replacement are part of your plan, our Implant Clinic inside the Holmen building provides that care locally.
Treat your restoration like your natural teeth: brush twice a day, floss daily, and keep your regular cleanings and exams. Restorations themselves do not decay, but the tooth and gums around them still can, so daily care and professional cleanings protect your investment.
If you grind or clench at night, we may recommend a night mouth guard to reduce stress on crowns, bridges, and fillings. Patients with implants benefit from ongoing implant maintenance, and those with a history of gum disease often move to a periodontal maintenance schedule. We will tell you what fits your situation. If something ever breaks or hurts, reach out right away. If you have a dental emergency, call the office closest to you for the earliest opening. We work to see emergencies the same day when our schedule allows, and we will do everything we can to accommodate same-day, next-day or walk-in care at any of our four offices.
We work with many dental insurance plans, and we recommend calling your office to confirm your coverage before treatment. We also welcome self-pay patients and will walk you through the cost of your plan before we begin.
For patients without insurance, our Rivertown Membership Plans, also called the VIP Program, offer Classic, Deluxe, and Kids options. Each includes cleanings, exams, X-rays, and fluoride, plus a discount on treatment. Membership plans cannot be combined with insurance. We also offer third-party financing through Cherry, CareCredit, and Proceed Finance, which lets qualified patients spread payments over time, subject to the lender's approval.
Whether you need one tooth repaired or a complete plan to rebuild your smile, our team at Rivertown Dental is ready to help. Call the La Crosse, Holmen, Arcadia, or Viroqua office nearest you to schedule your visit. Dentistry, Done Differently.
The process
We take digital X-rays, look closely at the tooth and talk through the restoration options that fit your needs.
Your dentist repairs the tooth with a filling, inlay, onlay, crown, bridge or root canal therapy, often in a single visit with CEREC.
Regular cleanings and exams help us check your restoration and keep the rest of your smile healthy.
Questions
Many dental insurance plans help cover restorative care such as fillings, crowns, inlays, onlays and bridges, and our offices in La Crosse, Holmen, Arcadia and Viroqua work with many dental insurance plans. Call the office closest to you to confirm your coverage, and if you do not have insurance, ask about our Rivertown Membership Plans, the VIP Program, which include a discount on treatment. We also offer third-party financing through Cherry, CareCredit and Proceed Finance for patients who qualify.
We numb the area before treatment, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain while we work. For extra comfort, we offer nitrous oxide sedation, and IV sedation is available for adults who feel anxious about dental visits. The Ascent Experience adds small comforts too, like warm towelettes, blankets, support pillows, headphones and essential oils.
It depends on the restoration, but many fillings are finished in a single visit, and we offer same-day CEREC crowns, so many crown patients do not need to come back for a second appointment. Larger plans, such as bridges, implants or full mouth reconstruction, take more visits, and our dentists will walk you through each step and timeline before we begin.
How long a restoration lasts varies from person to person and depends on the material, where the tooth sits in your mouth, and how well it is cared for at home. Regular cleanings and exams at any of our Coulee Region offices let us check your restorations and catch small problems early. If you grind your teeth at night, we may suggest a night mouth guard to help protect your dental work.
The right option depends on how much of the tooth is damaged or missing, and we decide together after an exam and digital X-rays. A small cavity may need only a filling, a larger break might call for an inlay, onlay or crown, and a missing tooth can be replaced with a bridge or a dental implant. We explain each choice in plain language, with no judgment about how long it has been since your last visit.
