Picture a busy Onalaska weeknight: one child needs a checkup, a parent has been ignoring a sensitive molar, and a grandparent has started asking about replacing a loose partial denture. At Rivertown Dental, we care for all of those needs under one name. As a locally owned, dentist-led practice serving Onalaska and the wider Coulee Region of Wisconsin, we keep care close to home, from a child's first cleaning to dental implants.

Onalaska families are served by our La Crosse office, which is our primary location, and our Holmen office, which also houses our Implant Clinic. Both are neighboring Rivertown offices, so you can choose the one that fits your commute, school schedule or errands. Our Holmen office is open Monday through Friday, with an early close on Fridays.

In La Crosse, you may see Dr. Jon Cochrane, our Clinical Director, Dr. Joseph Uker, FICD, or Dr. Jagger Stephens, who joined us in 2026. In Holmen, patients see Dr. Katherine Cahill, Dr. Kathryn Bird, a Navy veteran, and Dr. Dana Baldwin, OKU. Several of our doctors work at more than one office. That means your family can build a relationship with familiar faces for cleanings, emergencies and bigger treatment decisions.

Most Onalaska patients start with the basics: a dental exam, cleaning with our hygienists, oral cancer screening and digital X-rays. For children from age 2, we add fluoride treatments and sealants that help protect young teeth. When something needs repair, we offer fillings, inlays, onlays, root canal therapy on molars and same-day CEREC crowns, so many patients can leave with a finished crown in one visit.

Our general dentists also handle care that often means a referral elsewhere. We treat gum disease with scaling and root planing and ongoing periodontal maintenance. We offer simple extractions and oral surgery, TMJ therapy, night mouth guards, clear aligners, in-office whitening and porcelain veneers. For missing teeth, we place and restore dental implants in-house, along with bridges and full mouth reconstruction. Our Implant Clinic in Holmen is the home of our full-arch dental implant care.

Why Do Onalaska Families Choose Rivertown Dental?

Many families tell us they want one practice for everything, without being sent out of the area. That is how we work. Our approach is called The Ascent Experience: advanced care, genuine comfort, and a better experience from start to finish. We explain your options clearly, and we never judge you for how long it has been since your last visit.

Here is what you can expect when you come in:

  • Comfort touches like a warm towelette, blanket, support pillow, headphones and essential oils
  • Nitrous oxide sedation for children and IV sedation for adults who feel anxious
  • Straightforward explanations before any treatment begins
  • Care for every age, from toddlers to grandparents

Patients have noticed the difference. Our La Crosse office has 674 Google reviews with a 4.9 star average, and our Holmen office has 546 reviews with a 4.8 star average. Across all four offices, we have more than 1,600 reviews as of November 2026.

How Do Insurance and Payment Work?

We work with many dental insurance plans. Because coverage varies, please call the office to confirm how your plan applies before your visit. We also welcome self-pay patients, and our team is happy to walk you through what to expect.

If you do not have insurance, our Rivertown Membership Plans, also called the VIP Program, are worth a look. Classic, Deluxe and Kids plans include cleanings, exams, X-rays and fluoride, plus a discount on treatment. Membership plans cannot be combined with insurance. For larger treatment, we offer third-party financing through Cherry, CareCredit and Proceed Finance, subject to the lender's approval and qualification.

What Should I Do If I Need Care Right Away?

Toothaches, broken teeth and swelling rarely happen at convenient times. If you have a dental emergency, call the office closest to you for the earliest opening. We work to see emergencies the same day when our schedule allows, and we will do everything we can to accommodate same-day, next-day or walk-in care at any of our four offices.

For routine visits, getting started is simple. Call our La Crosse or Holmen office, tell us who in your family needs care, and we will find a time that works. Bring your insurance information if you have it, or ask about membership plans if you do not. Whether you need a checkup or are ready to talk about implants, we look forward to caring for you and your Onalaska neighbors. Dentistry, Done Differently.
