Most dental problems in La Crosse start small: a filling that wears down, gums that bleed when you floss, a molar that aches when you bite into something cold. Caught early, they usually stay small. Rivertown Dental's La Crosse office is our primary office, and it exists so that your family can handle all of it close to home, from a child's first cleaning to a full mouth restoration, with one team that already knows your history.
Your first appointment starts with a conversation. We ask what brought you in, what has bothered you, and how long it has been since your last visit. There is no judgment about that last part. Many La Crosse adults come to us after years away from the dentist, and our job is to help from wherever you are starting.
From there, a dental hygienist and a general dentist work together on your exam and cleaning. We use digital X-rays, check your gums, and complete an oral cancer screening. Then we explain what we see in plain language and talk through your options before anything is scheduled. Because we have an on-site dental lab and offer same-day CEREC crowns, many restorations can be finished without a second trip. That matters when you are balancing work, school pickups, and everything else on a La Crosse weekday. Beyond crowns, we provide fillings, inlays, onlays, bridges, molar root canal therapy, and simple extractions and other oral surgery.
Families come to us for preventive care too: fluoride treatments, sealants, and pediatric dentistry for children from age 2. For gum health, we offer scaling and root planing and ongoing periodontal maintenance. Adults looking for cosmetic changes can explore in-office teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, clear aligners, or a cosmetic smile-design consultation. We also treat TMJ/TMD concerns and make night mouth guards for clenching and grinding.
What if I need implants or more involved care?
We place and restore dental implants in-house, so you do not need a referral out of the Coulee Region. For patients missing several or all of their teeth, full-arch dental implants and full mouth reconstruction are available through our Implant Clinic in the Holmen building. Our doctors are general dentists who have built their training around this kind of care.
Comfort options are available for longer or more stressful visits. We offer nitrous oxide for children and IV sedation for adults. After treatment, we schedule follow-ups and implant maintenance visits so your work keeps doing its job.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
If you have a dental emergency, call the office closest to you for the earliest opening. We work to see emergencies the same day when our schedule allows, and we will do everything we can to accommodate same-day, next-day or walk-in care at any of our four offices.
A cracked tooth, a sudden toothache, or swelling should not wait. Call us first, and we will tell you what to do while you are on your way.
How do insurance and payment work?
We work with many dental insurance plans. Call our La Crosse office to confirm your coverage before your visit. We also welcome self-pay patients. If you do not have insurance, our Rivertown Membership Plans (the VIP Program) offer Classic, Deluxe, and Kids plans that include cleanings, exams, X-rays, and fluoride, plus a discount on treatment. Membership plans cannot be combined with insurance.
For larger treatment, third-party financing is available through Cherry, CareCredit, and Proceed Finance for patients who qualify. Approval depends on each lender, and our team can walk you through how to apply.
