Maybe it starts with a chipped molar at the dinner table, a child's first checkup that keeps getting pushed back, or a gap from a missing tooth you have been meaning to deal with for years. For families in Westby, WI, those moments are easier when you have one dental team you trust for all of it. At Rivertown Dental, our Viroqua office serves Vernon County, including Westby, so you can get care from cleanings to tooth replacement without being sent out of the area.

We are a locally owned, dentist-led practice serving Wisconsin's Coulee Region from four offices in La Crosse, Holmen, Arcadia and Viroqua. For Westby households, our Viroqua office is home base. There you will find Dr. Jon Cochrane, our Clinical Director, along with Dr. Jagger Stephens and Dr. Jacob Beilke, who both joined in 2026. Several of our doctors see patients at more than one office, which means the care you get in Viroqua connects to the full depth of our team. Please note that the Viroqua office is closed Fridays.

Being local matters to us. Westby families should not have to choose between a dentist close to home and the more involved care they may need someday. We keep advanced treatment within our own practice whenever we can, so the people who know your history are the people who care for you.

We are general dentists, and we see patients of all ages, with children welcome from age 2. Many Westby families have parents, kids and grandparents all on our schedule. Everyday care includes dental exams and cleanings, digital X-rays, fluoride treatment, sealants, fillings and oral cancer screenings. When gums need extra attention, we offer gum disease treatment, scaling and root planing, and periodontal maintenance.

When a tooth needs more, we provide crowns (including same-day CEREC crowns), inlays, onlays, bridges, molar root canal therapy and simple extractions. We also place and restore dental implants in-house, and we offer full-arch dental implants through our Implant Clinic in Holmen. Other services include TMJ/TMD therapy, night guards, clear aligners, in-office whitening and porcelain veneers. For comfort, we offer nitrous oxide for children and IV sedation for adults.

Why Do Westby Families Choose Rivertown Dental?

Many patients tell us they appreciate how we treat them, not just their teeth. We call it The Ascent Experience: advanced care, genuine comfort, and a better experience from start to finish. Here is what that looks like at your visit:

  • Warm towelettes, blankets, support pillows, headphones and essential oils
  • Clear explanations of what we see and what your options are
  • No judgment about how long it has been since your last visit
  • One team for preventive, restorative and emergency care

Our Viroqua office has 231 Google reviews with a 4.8 star average, and across all four offices we have more than 1,600 Google reviews (as of November 2026). We are grateful that so many neighbors in Vernon County trust us with their care.

If you have a dental emergency, call the office closest to you for the earliest opening. We work to see emergencies the same day when our schedule allows, and we will do everything we can to accommodate same-day, next-day or walk-in care at any of our four offices.

How Does Insurance and Financing Work?

We work with many dental insurance plans. Because coverage varies, the easiest step is to call our office so we can confirm your plan with you before your visit. We also welcome self-pay patients and will walk you through costs ahead of time.

If you do not have insurance, our Rivertown Membership Plans, also called the VIP Program, may be a good fit. The Classic, Deluxe and Kids plans include cleanings, exams, X-rays and fluoride, plus a discount on treatment. Membership plans cannot be combined with insurance. For larger treatment, third-party financing is available through Cherry, CareCredit and Proceed Finance, subject to approval by each lender. Our team is happy to explain how each option works.

How Do I Get Started as a New Patient?

Getting started is simple. Call our Viroqua office, tell us a little about what you need, and we will find a time that works for you. Whether it is a routine cleaning, a child's first visit or a concern you have been putting off, we will start by listening.

At your first appointment, we will review your health history, take any needed digital X-rays, and complete a thorough exam. Then we will talk through what we found in plain language and help you plan next steps at a pace that feels right. Westby families deserve a dental home close by, and we would be glad to be yours.
